Doll's Holiday is the coda to Bella's piano output. The work was written by an eighty-four-year-old master for his six-year-old granddaughter Dagmar. Bella spent the last years of his life in her company in Vienna and in Bratislava and followed her growing musical accomplishment with great anticipation. Dagmar Krafft-Bella (1920 - 1999), later Dagmar Sturli-Bella, would later become a concert pianist and piano teacher at the conservatory in Vienna.
The primo part employs the hand's natural span of a fifth, the accompaniment of the second player helps to create an effective whole.
