Ľuboš Bernáth: Symphony No. 2 Via lucis for mixed choir and orchestra

Lukáš Borzík: Matka (Mother), Symphony for soprano, tenor, mixed choir, and orchestra
The opening concert program will feature two works bearing the subtitle symphony. Both place the vocal component at the forefront, with choir and soloists, and both are rooted in spiritual themes. In his Via lucis Symphony, Ľuboš Bernáth draws inspiration from New Testament texts of the mystical Johannine tradition, allowing passages from the Gospel of John and the Book of Revelation to resound in Latin. By contrast, in his Matka Symphony, Lukáš Borzík sets Slovak texts in a cycle of twelve prayers to the Virgin Mary, each dedicated to one of the twelve virtues of silence, offering yet another fresh perspective on the very concept of a symphony.
