The Eternal Bond of Being is a song cycle which originated as a spontaneous reaction to the monstrous murder of the young journalist Ján Kuciak and his fiancée Martina Kušnírová. This event had an immense effect on our entire family, and as the father of three children my experience of it was peculiarly intense. I transmuted my frustration into an intimate song cycle based on the poetry of Milan Rúfus. I knew that among the works of this great poet, with his deep knowledge of human souls, I would find texts capable of reflecting even such tragic events as these. Events which are, alas, part of the picture of an imperfect democratic society in Slovakia. All of us certainly wish that there may be as few of them as possible in the future.
