Kasparov (violoncello) and A. Karpov (sine waves) from Seville, 1987. The common range of both sound sources (C4 – A 5) is divided into 64 equal parts, creating a microtonal 1/6 tone scale: the “chessboard”. The squares placed by figures sound constantly. When the figure moves, the pitch is being changed to its new square’s pitch. If the figure gets captured, its sound representation disappears. In musical terms, there is a constant alternation between the “white” and “black” sound groups.

\n        \n
\n        \n\n
\n                \n
First performance abroad
\n                \n                06.09.2014,\n                Bakehouse Art Complex,\n                Miami,\n                US\n\n
Performers: Jason Calloway (vc), Juraj Kojs (C*)\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n"}
