{"content":"\n
\n        \n        About work:
I find commissioned compositions problematic, although at first I'm usually delighted to receive an order. The thing is, it's happened to me more than once that a composition which originated in such a way didn't „work out“. I'm often the only one who „knows this“, because many of such commissions have turned out to be a success. But it's me who's not happy with them. Or – in order to be happy – I've got to re-work them sooner or later, often for a wholly different line-up.
In the case of MORSeARIA, however, something I've always longed for happened, something very unusual. Almost immediately after Eva asked me to write a composition for a solo voice combined with electronics, its basic idea revealed itself, together with its rough features, in a form I was happy with from the beginning. The process of composition was then as joyful as it tends to be when I write just for myself, without a commission...
As far as composing itself is concerned, for many years it has been various numerical sequences that have inspired me and served as a method. These numerical sequences I apply to both horizontal and vertical relationships, as well as to metrical-rhythmic and tectonic ones. I'm also interested in diverse manners of applying anagrams to creation. I've recently become intrigued by metrics and rhythmics derivable from various articulations of the Morse code.
All this materialised in some way or other when I was composing the „aria“ for Eva Šušková. The idea to set the Agnus Dei sequence to music (with emphasis on its miserere) arise as spontaneously as the original musical inspiration. This suprised me. It's only rarely that I have any ideas related to liturgical texts. The „chilly revelation“ came later: My close friend of many years Juraj Kušnierik unexpectedly passed away on 13th November, just a few weeks after I finished the „aria“. I suddenly realised that it may have been my spirit foreboding our involuntary parting, sending the plea for mercy (which, after all, all of us need)...

\n        (author, in: CD booklet \"Eva Šušková : secret VOICE electric\", Real Music House 2393-007-2, p. 13 – 14.)
\n
\n        \n\n
\n
First performance in Slovakia
\n                \n                \n                21.10.2015, Today's Music at the SNG – Building Blocks,\n                Slovak National Gallery,\n                Bratislava,\n                SK\n\n
Performers: Eva Šušková (v), Daniel Matej (C)\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n"}
