On the night of Sunday to Monday, August 19, 2024, Mgr. Ladislav Kačic, PhD., a renowned musicologist, music historian, and pedagogue, passed away.
Mgr. Kačic's name is deeply intertwined with Slovak music historiography. He was an indefatigable researcher and a discoverer of our musical past, possessing an exceptional capacity for knowledge and a unique ability to connect historical threads. His extensive bibliography, which includes scholarly monographs, studies, source-critical editions, sound recordings, and specialist texts across various genres, reflects the breadth of his expertise. He spearheaded several interdisciplinary and international projects, engaged actively in pedagogical activities, and collaborated with musicians to perform compositions unearthed from our archives.
Many will remember him with gratitude as a friend or teacher, always willing to offer advice and share his knowledge. He was a valued partner in many interesting and fruitful conversations, often adding a spark of humor.
The funeral Mass and services will be held on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in the Franciscan Church in Bratislava.
