Composer and conductor Marián Lejava, along with his chamber ensemble CODEnsemble, continues the "SeasOne" project with the second concert titled GET CARTER, bringing together an exceptional blend of contemporary Slovak and international compositions.
Concert Program:
Helen Grime: Seven Pierrot Miniatures (2010) - A piece by the Scottish composer inspired by the character Pierrot from commedia dell'arte and Arnold Schönberg's Pierrot Lunaire. Each of the seven sections draws inspiration from poems by Albert Giraud.
Jana Kmiťová: ICH MUSS WEGGEHEN (2019) - A composition by the Slovak composer for a quartet of clarinet, violin, cello, and piano, reflecting introspective themes and characterized by a rich tonal palette, distinctive of Kmiťová's work.
Adrián Demoč: ZAMAT (2023) - This work by the Slovak composer for five instrumentalists (bass clarinet, percussion, piano, viola, and cello) resonates with a rich tonal palette and an experimental approach to harmony and rhythmic structure, hallmarks of Demoč's music.
Milan Paľa: Gillot - A composition by the Slovak violinist from 2024 for a quartet of flute, clarinet, violin, and cello, presented in a world premiere performance.
Elliott Carter: Triple Duo - A chamber piece by the American composer from 1983 for six musicians: flute (with piccolo), clarinet (with bass clarinet), violin, cello, piano, and percussion. The work divides the ensemble into three duos, each with its own repertoire of musical ideas and moods, creating a complex and dynamic musical structure.
Join us for an evening of musical contrasts, discovering new dimensions of both familiar and lesser-known works, performed by CODEnsemble under the direction of Marián Lejava.
