The poetics of piano tones is the art of conjuring up diverse images, events, the art of capturing the atmosphere of the day, landscape or situation. Since its creation, the piano, with its wide tonal range, has attracted many composers. Some were so fascinated by it that they focused almost all of their compositional attention on it, which is the case of Frédéric Chopin. The quantity of compositions for piano in the list of any composers’ works is often related to their performing activity and career. Countless transcriptions and solo pieces were written by piano virtuoso Franz Liszt. Painting with music, finding clusters of chords and creating melodies that could stir the senses of the listener, that was the goal of the French master Claude Debussy. Compared to Liszt, Chopin and Debussy, compositions for piano are only a fraction of Henri Dutilleux’s work. However, his only piano sonata became a popular and appreciated piece and is referred to as one of the best post-war sonatas. For the first time, Robert Bílý, winner of the 10th annual J. N. Hummel International Piano Competition, a student of Pavel Gillilov at the University Mozarteum Salzburg, will present himself in a solo recital to the Reduta audience.
