Guitar festival of J. K. Mertz - one of the oldest of its kind in the world and a traditional part of Bratislava's Cultural Summer - once again offers an attractive program.
The 50th anniversary edition of the Guitar Festival of J. K. Mertz, taking place from June 21 to 26, 2026, will host more than 30 artists from Italy, Spain, Greece, Austria, Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The event features solo guitar recitals, chamber music - guitar duos, quartets, and ensembles - as well as guitar combined with violin or vocals. The program will include Baroque, early Romantic, and contemporary guitar works from the Central European region, as well as Cuban, Italian, and Spanish music.
To mark the festival's 50th anniversary, the Society of J. K. Mertz is publishing a chronicle of the event's 50-year history. To fund the production and printing of the publication, as well as to supplement funding for the 50th edition of the event--due to a lack of support from the State Fund for the Support of the Arts Slovak Arts Council a crowdfunding campaign is underway on donio.sk. You can support the campaign here: https://donio.sk/50rokovfestivalu.
The festival is held under the auspices of Ing. arch. Matúš Vallo, the Mayor of the City of Bratislava.
TICKETS are available in advance through the TICKETPORTAL network and one hour before each concert at the venue.
Organiser of the event: SPOLOČNOSŤ J.K. MERTZA - občianske združenie
Co-organiser of the event: Bratislava Cultural and Information Centre. Implemented thanks to the BKIS Support Program.
The project was financially supported by Bratislava Self-governing Region, the City of Bratislava, Embassy of Spain in Slovakia, Music Fund Slovakia, SOZA Social and Cultural Fund, Polish Institute Bratislava, the Austrian Cultural Forum, Hanika Guitars, Musicmania, Fidelitas and contributors via donio.sk.
