Antonín Dvořák
The Golden Spinning Wheel, Op. 109
The Noon Witch, Op. 108
The Wild Dove, Op. 110
The Water Goblin, Op. 107

After returning from the United States, Antonín Dvořák surprised the until then “anti-program” public with a cycle of four excellent symphonic poems based on the ballads of Karel Jaromír Erben. Dvořák studied the poetry collection Kytice (Czech for bouquet) for several years. The result are four compositions. In 1884, enchanted by Erben, Dvořák composed the full-length cantata The Spectre’s Bride.
