Franz Schubert
Fantasie in C major, D760 Wanderer

"The devil can play it", said Franz Schubert on the margin of his fantasy Der Pilgrim. The statement says a lot about the technical demands of the composition, which is based on the melody of his song Der Pilgrim. Inspiration from his own song material is also present in the work of Robert Schumann. The second part of the sonata Aria uses motifs from two earlier songs. It is "a solitary outcry to you from my heart", wrote Schumann to his Clara, to whom the sonata is dedicated.
Slovak pianist Zuzana Niederdorfer, who settled in Graz, appeals to listeners with her sense of fragile lyricism and deep empathy.
