\n \n About work:

I wrote the Story for voice and tape in 1995. The tape was prepared in cooperation with the Experimental Studio of the Slovak Radio in Bratislava and with the STEIM studio in Amsterdam. I made a revision of both the singer’s part and the soundtrack in 2014.
The composition expresses my view of the relationship between the nature and civilisation; it is a memento of where this relationship could end. Its \"narrative\" moves forward through the recorded sounds and the line of the vocal part. The sounds on the accompanying tape, at first timid and purely natural, develop towards more aggressive sounds of civilisation, until, just before the end of the piece, they culminate in the sound of war: shots fired, sirens blaring, noise of fighter planes… Against this background humankind stands as both the creator and the victim of its own evolution; in the piece, it is represented by the voice. The vocal part follows a line similar to the sounds on the tape: from the timid beginnings of inhalation and exhalation, it gradually moves through whisper, talk and singing to reach the cries of horror. In the finale, after the war machinery has drowned out every other sound including the human voice, silence ensues – it is only after a while that a solitary human breath is heard again…
I cling to my hope that the story of mankind on the Earth will not end in the way I depicted in this composition.
