{"content":"\n
\n \n About work:
PRINCIPIUM in Latin meams BEGINNING and also PRINCIPLE. I chose a favourite instrument, the viola, which as solo instrument is the bearer of the main musical line. This composition is the first in a series of seven chamber concertos for a variety of solo instruments with accompaniment by small formations with mixed instrumentation. At the same time, it represents the commencement of a new style which is slowly being born in this composition. The main principle is above all the dramatic mode of developing the musical tissue and the definition of the basic features of my own harmonic language. There are 6 short movements flowing without a break with the concealed three-movement plan of the classical concerto (fast-slow-fast). The individual movements are: 1. Introduction, 2. Movement 1, 3. “Cadenza iniziale”, 4. Movement 2, 5. “Cadenza finale”, 6. Coda.
The composition conspicuously develops certain musical figures and throughout its course it returns constantly to the form of the first chord of the solo viola. The ensemble’s instruments make their entry as a collective commentator on the viola part and an active co-creator of the musical situation. There are two paradoxical cadence which do not represent the soloist in the classical manner but rather create a sort of branching of the material expounded in the preceding movements.
Principium had its premiere in December 2014 in Budapest. The solo part was undertaken by Milan Paľa, a good friend of mine and a unique artist. He was accompanied by the splendid Qaartsiluni ensemble led by myself.

\n (author, in: Bulletin Melos-Ethos 2015, p. 38 – 39.)
\n
\n
\n Movements:
\n\n Introduction\n \n
\n\n Movement 1\n \n
\n\n \"Cadenza iniziala\"\n \n
\n\n Movement 2\n \n
\n\n \"Cadenza finala\"\n \n
\n\n Coda\n \n
\n
\n\n

\n \n
First performance abroad
\n \n 02.12.2014, Visegrad Portraits 2014,\n TRAFÓ House of Contemporary Arts,\n Budapest,\n HU\n\n
Performers: Milan Paľa (vl), Qaartsiluni Ensemble, Marián Lejava (dir.)\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n"}
