After completing his master study the composer used the technical experience he had gained, especially the richness of ideas to which he had been exposed, to create complex thematic combinations. There were already indications in this work that he would go on to compose numerous symphonies and other symphonic and vocal-symphonic works. It is worth noting that the composer also incorporated a traditional contrapuntal passacaglia into this one-movement piece, and the sonata form is thus linked with traditional technique of the contrapuntal form. The original score of the work was lost and so Moyzes re-wrote the score from memory in 1943. Moyzes's contemporaries confirmed that the themes were identical and that the structure of the piece was the same as that of the original work. The composition became part of the repertoire of leading quartets and in 1932 the work was interpreted by the world-famous Czech Quartet.

\n (Ladislav Burlas, in: booklet of the CD \"Alexander Moyzes, Mikuláš Moyzes – String Quartets\", Opus 1996, 912569-2)
\n
\n        \n\n        \n
\n"}
