MISSA BREVIS
One Voice Mass with organ accompaniment
According to the cataloguing data, the composition is entitled Mass in C major for organ and voice and consists of three manuscript pages. We do not know the circumstances of the composition's origin, but the most appropriate designation for this work would undoubtedly be Missa brevis, given the fragmentary nature of the mass text, the omission of the Benedictus section, and the uncharacteristic tonal plan of the work. It is also possible that the author himself did not consider it complete, but a sketch. All the movements of the cycle are composed in the form of a four-part organ texture, the upper voice of this texture being more or less identical with the vocal part, reciting a "brevis" version of the mass text.
