Allegretto Žilina Festival Celebrates 35 Years

The Allegretto Žilina Festival is an international music festival of performance art, held annually in Žilina. It is one of the most significant musical events in Slovakia and the Central European region. With its rich tradition, the festival provides a platform for young laureates of prestigious international music competitions to perform on stage.

The 35th jubilee edition of Allegretto Žilina will take place from April 20 to 25, 2026, at the Fatra House of Arts. Over six festival days, 11 performers from seven countries—Lithuania, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, South Korea, Japan, Serbia, and the United States—will take the stage.

Slovakia will be represented by two outstanding young artists of the new generation: violinist Teo Gertler and pianist Pavol Bohdan Zápotočný. The program will also include a concert featuring this year’s laureates from Slovak conservatory competitions held earlier in the spring.

Orchestral performances will be presented by the Slovak Philharmonic, Janáček Philharmonic Ostrava, and the State Chamber Orchestra Žilina.

Thirty-five years of the Allegretto Žilina Festival confirm its important place on the map of European musical events. Our long-term goal is to create a platform for exceptional young talents and connect them with renowned orchestral ensembles. We believe that this jubilee edition will once again offer the audience powerful artistic experiences,” said Igor Valentovič, Director of the Music Centre.
