The centrepiece of the programme is Thomas Adès’s Lieux retrouvés (Rediscovered places), a cycle of four musical scenes – water, mountains, fields and the city – which forms the conceptual focal point of the evening. Moving towards it, yet also away from it, we journey through the programme between real and imaginary spaces, which are revealed in the works of Kaija Saariaho, Michael van der Aa, Wojciech Widłak, Jana Kmiťová, Valentin Silvestrov and Vladimír Godár. In their music, landscape and nature converge with personal emotion, tension, meditation and movement.
