Het Collectief (BE)

Belgian chamber ensemble. It was founded in 1998 in Brussels and is composed of a quintet of musicians: Thomas Dieltjens, Wilbert Aerts, Martijn Vink, Julien Hervé and Toon Fret. With its instrumental combination (piano, violin, cello, clarinet and flute) the ensemble has formed a characteristic and unique sound. In its repertoire there is a declared affinity with the Second Viennese School, with a thorough approach to the study and performance of music by 20th century composers and contemporary experimental tendencies. Along with many concert halls in Belgium, Het Collectief has had concerts in Holland, Switzerland, Germany, Poland, Austria, Hong Kong, Spain, Peru and Brazil. Their last CD recording, in 2014, was entitled Berg & Zemlinsky Lieder. Overall, the ensemble’s discography includes works by Schönberg, Messiaen and J. S. Bach.
