Jozef Hamerník was a very gifted child, and embarked upon his concert career at a very early age. When other musicians were just starting out, he had already performed at a number of significant events. As a soloist, he has played at concerts and festivals in Germany (every year, since 1997, at the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern), in Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Luxemburg, Poland, Japan, and Slovakia (including the Central European Festival of Concert Art in Žilina and the Summer of Culture), with orchestras such as the Radiophilharmonie Hannover, the Slovak Philharmonic, the Slovak Chamber Orchestra under Bohdan Warchal, the Cappella Istropolitana, the Polish Chamber Orchestra, the TIJI/UNESCO Orchestra, the Norddeutsche Philharmonie, the Bratislava Chamber Soloists, the Žilina State Chamber Orchestra, the Prague Chamber Orchestra, the Solistes Européens Luxemburg, the Hamburger Camerata, and the Chamber Orchestra of St. Petersburg in Russia.

He has worked with leading conductors, soloists, and chamber groups, and has recorded for Slovak state radio and television, as well as Bayerische Rundfunk in Germany.
