concert master of ensemble Orquesta Filarmonica Málaga, Spain
The artistic career of Šestáková crystallized during her studies at Conservatory (concert performance within Tibor Varga International Music Festival in Sion, Switzerland). In addition to solo activities she intensively plays chamber and orchestral music, mostly as a concert master. Since 1991 she is concert master of Orquesta Filarmonica Málaga, Spain. Here she founded the Málaga City Piano Trio (1991), nonet Musica Viva (1999) as well as a chamber orchestra with members of Philharmony (1992). In this orchestra, in addition to solo performances, she is also artistic director and concert master.
Andrea Šestáková has performed in most European countries as well as Japan, Cuba and others. She has cooperated with many conductors (Oliver Dohnányi, Ondrej Lenárd Bystrík Režucha, Bohdan Warchal, Odon Alonso, Sergiu Comissione, Leopold Hager, Cristobal Halffter, Enrique Mazzola, Juan Mena, Juan Krszysztof Penderecki, Vasily Simonov, Maxim Shostakovich and others). Her chamber partners during her Slovak stay were: Daniela Kardošová, pf, Valéria Kelly, pf, Rudolf Macudzinski, pf, Miloš Starosta, pf, Stanislav Zamborský, pf, Alois Menšík, gui, Richard Vandra, vc. She has recorded many recordings for radio and television (Slovakia, Hungary, Germany, former Yugoslavia, Russia, Turkey) and for music publishing in Slovakia and abroad. At the present time she mainly records for Spanish radio stations and music publishers.
During her Slovak stay, Šestáková was able to combine concert activity with pedagogical work. From 1978 – 1983 she taught at Conservatory in Bratislava, and later as assistant professor at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava until 1990. Despite moving to Spain her pedagogical activities did not stop. There she teaches violin, and several times she has led master classes there (Santander, 1992, Málaga, 1994, 1995).
