Pavol Kováč

After graduating from the Academy of Performing Arts he was soloist of the Czechoslovak Radio Symphony Orchestra in Bratislava, with which he completed a series of recording for the Bratislava Radio record library. As a soloist he later performed with the leading Slovak orchestras and also with orchestras abroad (FOK Praha, Oslo Philharmonic, Radio Symphony Orchestra in Leipzig, Frankfurt and Stuttgart, Bergen Philharmonic, New Japan Philharmonic, Yomiuri Symphony Orchestra etc.) with Slovak and foreign conductors (Takashi Asahima, Neill Dodd, Mario Klemens, Ken Ichiro Kobayashi, Sir Neville Marriner, Ettore Strata etc.). He has collaborated with many leading Slovak performers, with his wife Helena Kováčová in a piano duo, and also with Stanislav Zamborský and with Slovak ensembles. He has made his mark abroad also as an outstanding chamber musician – for many years he has been the partner of the outstanding Japanese violinist Takeshi Kobayashi, the prominent clarinetist Günther Beugel; in Germany he appears with the pianist Stephane Kaller and with the Slovak flautist Vladislav Brunner, who lives in Frankfurt-on-Main.

He has appeared at important Slovak music festivals and also at festivals abroad (Prague Spring, Wiener Festwochen, Japan Art Festival etc.). He has given concerts in 15 countries in Europe, in the Middle East (Kuwait, Abu Dhabi), in USA, in Cuba, and many times in Japan and Spain.
