Vašo Patejdl (1954–2023), a composition graduate from the Academy of Performing Arts (VŠMU) in Bratislava under Prof. Alexander Moyzes, was a co-founder of the Czechoslovak pop-rock band Elán. He was a member until 1985 and returned to the group in 1996. As their primary musical leader, his potential fully unfolded from the mid-1980s onward, when he began focusing not only on his solo career but also on composing for other artists. He was a versatile and remarkably industrious artist who established himself not only in mainstream popular music but also left a significant mark in children's music, musicals, film scores, new age music, and other genres. ... In addition to numerous other accolades, he was a multiple recipient of the SOZA Awards (Slovak Performing and Mechanical Rights Society). For the years 1999 and 2000, he received them as the author of the most-played song (Voda, čo ma drží nad vodou from the Fontána pre Zuzanu 3 soundtrack), and he won in the category for the most successful performance of Slovak works abroad for the years 2000 and 2013.
