PhD. Jana Zelenková is a Slovak musician, musicologist and teacher. She plays the organ and harpsichord.
She studied organ, piano and conducting at the Conservatory in Košice and Theory and Performance Practice of Early Music, with a focus on harpsichord, at Masaryk University in Brno. At the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava, she completed the Chamber Music programme and studied organ with Imrich Szabó. She specialises in the performance of early music and has participated in several international masterclasses and courses, including the Summer School of Baroque Music, MEMA and Accentus musicalis. In 2010, she founded the early music ensemble Il Cuore Barocco and later established the St Francis Church Choir in Bratislava – Karlova Ves.
Alongside her concert activities, she is actively involved in musicological research. She participates in conferences and publishes scholarly articles, for example in Slovenská hudba and conference proceedings. Her research focuses primarily on early and sacred music, with particular emphasis on the composer Jozef Podprocký. She regularly contributes reviews, interviews and other articles to Hudobný život and wrote programme notes for concerts in the Early Music series at the Slovak Philharmonic (2018, 2019). In 2017, she published the article Ako (ne)znie Bach? in the university journal TEMPO. At her initiative, the Music Centre Slovakia, in cooperation with the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava, published Ivan Hrušovský’s book Úvod do štúdia teórie harmónie in 2019.
As a rehearsal pianist, Jana Zelenková has collaborated with several choirs. She has also worked as a teacher of keyboard instruments, music theory and ensemble playing, as well as a rehearsal pianist, at elementary art schools and conservatories. Since 2023, she has been responsible for music education and piano accompaniment at the Waldorf Homeschool in Bratislava.
