Mgr. Peter Ruščin, PhD. is a Slovak musicologist, hymnologist, and university lecturer. He studied violin at the Conservatory in Košice and musicology at the Department of Musicology of Comenius University in Bratislava. His research focuses primarily on the history of sacred song in Slovakia from the 16th to the 19th century. Since 2010, he has been working as an independent researcher at the Institute of Musicology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences (SAS) in Bratislava and currently serves as the Chair of the Scientific Board of the Institute of Musicology, SAS.
Ruščin completed a study stay supported by a DAAD scholarship in Mainz (Johannes Gutenberg University, 1995–1996) and at the Institute of Musicology in Kraków (Jagiellonian University Kraków, 2000). As part of his scientific work, he has been the principal investigator of several national research grants, and since 2001 he has been a member of the international organization Internationale Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Hymnologie.
Peter Ruščin has taught at the Conservatory in Košice and at the Department of Music, Faculty of Humanities and Natural Sciences, University of Prešov. He has also contributed editorially to journals such as Adoramus Te and Hudobný život (Musical Life).
He regularly participates in musicological conferences and publishes in academic volumes and scholarly journals.
