editor in the Editorial Office of Symphonic, Opera, and Chamber Music of Slovak Radio in Bratislava
PhDr. Viera Režuchová was a Slovak musicologist and music editor. She devoted her career to radio work and to supporting the young generation of performers.
Viera Režuchová studied at the Bratislava Conservatory and later musicology at the Faculty of Arts of Comenius University in Bratislava. After completing her studies, she began working as a specialist editor in the Editorial Office of Symphonic, Opera, and Chamber Music at Slovak Radio in Bratislava, where she remained until her untimely death.
For more than twenty years, she prepared the programme Štúdio mladých (“Studio of the Young”), which became a springboard into the concert world for many emerging artists. She worked across almost all formats of radio music journalism and original radio production. She recorded reports from concerts and events dedicated to young musicians (concert showcases in Trenčianske Teplice, Žilina, events of the Musical Youth organization, interpretative seminars, and international competitions) and created music-and-spoken-word programmes such as Prelúdium, Akcenty a rezonancie, and Nedeľné matiné. Her 1982 programme Svätenie jari (“The Rite of Spring”) offered an overview of the life and work of Igor Stravinsky.
She participated in the selection and preparation of Slovakia’s representatives for the UNESCO International Rostrum of Young Performers and initiated full-day public nonstop concerts at Slovak Radio, giving young musicians an opportunity to rehearse their competition repertoire. She cooperated with Radio France, for which she organized a series of live broadcasts from Slovak Radio, and thanks to her efforts, young Slovak guitarists were given the opportunity to present themselves at the international guitar competition organized by Radio France.
With her critiques, reviews, interviews, and other articles, she regularly contributed to the magazine Hudobný život (“Musical Life”) and to the daily press.
Viera Režuchová organized professional seminars, composers’ and musicological colloquia, and undertook work trips to Hungary, East Germany, Poland, Romania, and Russia. She was a member of the Union of Slovak Composers and the Slovak Women’s Union.
