PhDr. Edita Bugalová, PhD. was a Slovak musicologist, music museum specialist, educator, and organizer of cultural life.
Her research focused on regional music historiography and the life and work of Mikuláš Schneider-Trnavský. She was actively involved in expert scriptwriting, journalism, editing and publishing, programming and conceptual development of cultural events, as well as their organization.
Since 1991, she had been a board member of the Mikuláš Schneider-Trnavský Society, which she co-founded. She contributed significantly to the development of musical life in Trnava, where, during her work in municipal affairs, she initiated several music and cultural events that have since become tradition. In the field of music museum work, she realized national and international presentation projects (exhibitions, musical revivals), organized professional events (conferences, seminars), and participated in music historical research. She was a member of the Slovak Musicological Association, since 2008 a member of the Cultural Council of the Trnava Self-Governing Region, a member of the Musicological Commission of the Music Fund, and from 2014 a member of the Music Fund Council. She undertook multiple study visits to Hungary, Austria, Romania, and Germany.

She organized international events including musicological seminars and conferences (Trnava, Dolná Krupá, Bratislava, 1988 – 2012), the Mikuláš Schneider-Trnavský International Vocal Competition, where she served as director (1992 – 1998), the Trnava Organ Days music festival (1995 – 1998),
Project CONTAKT under the Interreg II EU initiative, fostering Austrian-Slovak musical cooperation (1997 – 2003), Ján Levoslav Bella v Sibini (Sibiu, European Capital of Culture, 2007), Desatoro o fujare (The Ten Commandments of the Fujara, 2007 – 2008), UNESCO intangible cultural heritage exhibition presented in Paris, Berlin, Budapest, Sarajevo, Prínos svetových osobností v kontexte historických parkov... (The Contribution of World Figures in the Context of Historic Parks...), an international conference marking the 200th anniversary of the English park in Dolná Krupá (2013).
She also coordinated national and regional events commemorations of composers such as Mikuláš Schneider-Trnavský, Franz Schubert, Eugen Suchoň, and Ján Levoslav Bella (1978 – 2008), musicological conferences and seminars (1978 – 2012), Hudobné utorky v múzeu (Music Tuesdays at the Museum, 1984 – 1988), Trnavská hudobná jar (Trnava Spring Music Festival, 1992, 1996), organ performance masterclasses (1996 – 1998), concert dramaturgy and direction, e.g., for the anniversary of Gejza Dusík (Križovany), Rok Eugena Suchoňa (Year of Eugen Suchoň, Cífer, 1998).
She devoted herself to music revival, including projects such as Hudba trnavského baroka (Music of Trnava Baroque, with Musica Aeterna), Missa Alma nox, Sláčikové kvartetá (String Quartets), Missa in honorem St. Nicolai and Missa Rosa Mystica by Mikuláš Schneider-Trnavský (performed by Janáček Quartet, Capella Tyrnaviensis, Tirnavia Choir, Conservatory Orchestra Bratislava, Philharmonie Marchfeld), the operetta Bellarosa (in cooperation with Ján Palárik Theatre in Trnava), and Karol Elbert – neznámy známy (Karol Elbert – The Unknown Known), concerts and a documentary CD of his serious music works in Bratislava and Trnava.
