Jozef Barina, a blues singer, guitarist, and arranger, is one of the pioneers of Slovak rock. After starting out in classic beat music and performing cover instrumental pieces, he transitioned to creating original music and began using Slovak lyrics in beat music. His stage presence has been marked by long pauses in his career, with an increasing shift toward blues over time.
In recent years, he has performed sporadically with the group Meditating Blues Band. Their concerts offered a unique opportunity to experience the phenomenal expression of the Slovak “Joe Cocker” and his guitar playing, influenced by Hank Marvin and Eric Clapton—artists with whom Jozef "Barry" Barina proudly identifies.
