Hudobný život, editor
Lýdia Dohnalová is a Slovak musicologist, music critic, and publicist. She graduated in Musicology from the Faculty of Arts, Comenius University in Bratislava (1973). She subsequently worked at the Music Information Centre of the Music Fund in Bratislava (1973–1988, today Music Centre Slovakia) and in the editorial office of Hudobný život (Musical Life) (1988–2007; published by Obzor, Music Centre Slovakia).
She has published in professional journals such as Hudobný život, Slovenská hudba (Slovak Music), Opera Slovakia, Harmonie and others, as well as previously in daily press. She collaborated with Czechoslovak and Slovak Radio through authored music-word programs, presentations of Slovak composers and performers (series Rozohrávky, Predstavujeme...), and musicologists (the extensive series Muzikologické kolokviá), and contributed to other news programs. She (co-)authored scholarly texts for festival bulletins such as Nová slovenská tvorba (New Slovak Composition), BHS, and commemorative publications for anniversaries (e.g., M. Schneider-Trnavský Singing Competition, 50 years of ŠKO Žilina). As an author, she participated in preparing thematic presentation concerts dedicated to 20th-century Slovak composers (HIS SHF events – 1970s and 1980s) and gave lectures with presentation concerts in Poland and Bulgaria organized by Slovak cultural centres.
She cooperated with conservatories in Košice and Bratislava by providing informational presentations on Slovak chamber music. She served as a member of expert juries for interpretation competitions of elementary art schools and Talent roku in Prague. She actively contributed expert papers at musicological seminars and colloquia. Over the past two decades, she has mainly collaborated with the State Chamber Orchestra Žilina as an independent music publicist.
