In 1954 Cikker composed the Tatra Brooks, a cycle of three masterly compositions with markedly colourful elements. We find in thema a lot of onomatopoeias – a play of waves, glittering leaves, a wind sough, a storm, etc. Nevertheless, the Cikkerian impressionism is of typical Slovak character. It does not use quotations of Slovak folks melodics but specifically presents the nature of the Slovak nation living at the bottom of its mountains.
