Karpatské chrbáty are a rock alternative music band originating from Vrbové, led by singer and instrumentalist Braňo Jóbus. They are especially known for their distinctive humor and playful, tongue-in-cheek performances. The themes of their lyrics include sincerity as well as social issues. Band members: Miroslav Kusý – guitar, Roman Klčo – bass guitar, and Peter Hrdina – drums. The band was formed in 1982 under the name Veget, which was banned during the period of restricted freedom and renamed in 1986 to Karpatské chrbáty. Their latest album was released in 2015 and is titled Dekel. Karpatské chrbáty, pioneers of the alternative scene in Slovakia, have in recent years also collaborated with Michael Kocáb from Pražský výběr.
