The Janáček Opera Orchestra of the Brno National Theatre (CZ)

The Orchestra of the Janacek Opera of the National Theatre Brno is a 80 member ensemble, including outstanding artistic personalities, who have proved their qualities as soloists and members of various chamber bodies (The Janaček Quartet, The Moravian Quartet, Brno Brass Quintet, Brno Brass Band, Czech Virtuosi, etc). An excellent reputation has been built since the middle of the last century, for instance during the conductorship of Frantisek Neumann, when the Orchestra not only enriched the cultural life of Brno as the Opera ensemble, but also thanks to regular symphonic concerts. Another significant period in the Orchestra's history was the conductorship and leadership of Frantisek Jilek. During the last few years, the Orchestra has made successful achievements at the international scale, namely by a countless performing of the Janacek Opera in Europe and Japan. Apart from opera production, the Orchestra is also engaged in symphonic and cantata, both inland and abroad.
