Magdaléna Bajuszová - piano
Slovak pianist. At the age of eight she was admitted to the Bratislava Conservatory as a student extraordinaire (seven years younger than the Conservatory age limit of fifteen) and from there she went on to study at the Academy of Performing Arts with Cyril Dianovský and Ida Černecká. At the Academy she also earned her doctorate degree. She is a recipient of several prizes in national and international piano competitions, e. g. the international competition of young pianists Virtuosi per Musica di Pianoforte (2nd prize, The Best Czechoslovakian Participant Award, the Czech Music Fund Award), the Slovak Conservatories Competition (1st prize), Leoš Janáček International Competition (2nd prize), V. Horowitz Memorial Competition in Kiev (semifinalist), and she is also the winner of The Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe scholarship. As a soloist, she has collaborated with all major national orchestras (Slovak Philharmonic, Slovak Radio Symphonic Orchestra, Slovak Sinfonietta Žilina, Cappella Istropolitana, etc.), she also regularly performs at music festivals and has done numerous recordings for Slovak TV and Slovak Radio. At present she is a Docent of piano at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava. In 2010 she has been awarded the Frico Kafenda Prize for ‘excellence in interpretational achievements’.
