Eva Šušková - soprano
Slovak soprano. She graduated in the study of singing at the Church Conservatory and at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava (Viktória Stracenská), where she also completed her doctoral study (Peter Mikuláš). Her artistic perspective was extended at performance master courses in Austria, Hungary and the Czech Republic. She focuses particularly on performing 20th century and contemporary music and collaborates with a number of Slovak composers, whose work she has presented at festivals including GAIDA, Prague Premieres, Bratislava Musical Festival, Melos Ethos, Convergences, New Slovak Music and Pohoda, among others. Eva Šušková has taken part in the premieres of six new Slovak operas by J. Beneš, V. Kubička and S. Solovic. In 2011 she appeared in the SND Opera as Verdi’s Desdemona. She has also made guest appearances in the SND in productions of Carmen (Mercedes), The Players (Gertrude) and in the State Opera in Banská Bystrica as Chivria in Mussorgsky’s The Fair at Sorochyntsi. Eva Šušková engages intensively in concert and chamber singing. As a soloist she has collaborated with prominent Slovak orchestras and ensembles, with whom she has made dozens of concert appearances throughout Europe and the USA. In 2002–2007 she was a member of the acting troupe in the GUnaGU alternative theatre in Bratislava. She has also made recordings for Brilliant Classics, Dynamic, CPO, Slovak Radio, Hudobný fond and Diskant. Recently her CD entitled secret VOICE appeared (Hudobný fond 2015) with works by contemporary Slovak composers, where the focus is principally on work with the voice in unusual registers.
