Usually, an outstanding talent, one, which, perhaps, reaches the status of a genius, manifests itself very early. History is full of such child prodigies. Still, it remains a wonderful mystery - in European context, at least - how child geniuses escape the overwhelming influence of classical music and its institutions, and how they find themselves rooted in an enlightened minority - in this case, jazz.
