Works for Piano

The centenary of Ján Cikker’s birth provided the impetus for compiling, recording, and releasing virtually the entire corpus of the composer’s works for solo piano—music that represents the pinnacle of his creative inspiration. Sonatina, Theme and Variations, the piano miniatures What the Children Told Me, and Tatra Streams are enduring landmarks of Slovak piano literature. This recording presents these works in performances by Jordana Palovičová, who comes from a musical family closely associated with Cikker. As a result, alongside its artistic maturity, her interpretation offers the informed perspective of a musician with a personal connection to one of the most significant figures in Slovakia’s musical heritage.
