The music publication Works for Children and Young People includes the piano collection To Our Children, which the composer wrote as a supplement to Beyer’s piano method, and To Our Youth, a collection originally compiled by the composer’s son, Alexander Moyzes, from works intended for more advanced young pianists. Mikuláš Moyzes taught at teacher-training colleges and music schools for almost four decades, educating many of Slovakia’s leading musicians and music teachers. The new edition of his pedagogical works, published more than half a century after their original release, may therefore be regarded as a long-overdue tribute to one of the founding figures of Slovak music education and Slovak music as a whole.
