Németh-Šamorínsky’s three Missae breves are scored for low voice (baritone) and organ. They set the liturgical text in its abbreviated form, with shortened settings of the Gloria and Credo. A distinctive feature shared by all six of Németh’s Masses is the extended coda to the Agnus Dei, which develops into an independent seventh movement, Dona nobis pacem. This plea for peace ultimately expresses the central message of the entire Mass.
