Štefan Fajnor (1844 – 1909) was the Romantic era Slovak composer. The piece is inspired by Adolf Heyduk's poetry cycle which is an ode to Slovakia. Štefan Fajnor was one of the first composers who has noticed the musical qualities of his poetry. Cymbalo and violin – Songs for voice and piano is the first large song cycle by the Slovak author.
