Jozef Sixta

Published to mark what would have been the 80th birthday of Jozef Sixta (1940–2007), one of the leading Slovak composers of the second half of the twentieth century, this volume brings together several rare writings by the composer himself, who only occasionally expressed his artistic views in written form.

The publication also includes analytical essays by Slovak musicologists, music theorists, and composers devoted to Sixta’s work. A more personal portrait of the composer emerges through interviews and reminiscences by his former students, colleagues, and friends.

The volume is supplemented by a chronological and thematic catalogue of Jozef Sixta’s compositions and an accompanying CD.
