The summer edition of Hudobný život is not only full of sound impressions but also scented with flowers, the rustle of leaves, and the air of the sea and mountains, sprinkled with the fine dust of vacation journeys. We traveled to the Faroe Islands for ISCM World New Music Days, to Munich for the ultra-modern Biennale, which also featured a "road opera" with flashes of reality show, to the Scottish Highlands for local bagpipes, to Bologna's Museo Colombano for a unique collection of keyboard instruments, and to the Polish village of Lusławice, where in a 15-hectare forest park-arboretum you can unleash your imagination and engage all your sensory receptors – just as its creator and owner, Krzysztof Penderecki, used to do. In the German countryside, specifically in Gohrisch "on straw," the prestigious Shostakovich festival was held. Jazz musician Mária Reháková allowed us to peek into her past and future work trips.

At home, we bid farewell to composer and teacher Vladimír Bokes through the memories of his three students on the pages of our magazine. In Nové Mesto nad Váhom, we met with Peter Sedlák, who years ago succumbed to the allure of analog sound. Brazilian guitarist Yamandu Costa, the star of this year's International Guitar Festival J. K. Mertza, allowed us to look inside himself.

Our theater section moved from Bratislava (Madama Butterfly) to Martin (The Revelation of St. John), continued through Vienna (Così fan tutte), and ended in Brno, where we captured the world premiere of Ľubica Čekovská's new opera Here I am, Orlando.
