The Art of Piano Playing

The volume contains the original writings of Professor Miloslav Starosta (1940–2020), a leading Slovak pianist, pedagogue, historian, publicist, translator, and intellectual. As a professor at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava, he made an outstanding contribution to the theoretical and scholarly reflection on piano interpretation through numerous translations, articles, teaching materials, and methodological works. In addition to more extensive texts such as Treatise on Melody and Paths to the Art of Piano Playing, this publication also includes Starosta’s articles for Hudobný život and his contributions to academic conferences.
