In 1935 – 1954 he conducted the leading Bratislava amateur choir ZORA, with whom he produced and premiered the choral parts of works by Eugene Suchoň (The Psalm of the Sub-Carpathian Land), Tibor Frešo (Stabat Mater) and Ján Cikker (Cantus filiorum). He coLlaborated with the National Theatre Choir in Bratislava and the SĽUK Choir. In 1962, together with Ján Strelec, he founded the Bratislava Children’s Choir, which he led as artistic director.

For 25 years he was active in the Slovak Teachers’ Singers’ Choir, with whom he made hundreds of appearances at home and abroad, and he produced the greater part of the original Slovak repertoire for male choir. He recorded many of these works for the former Czechoslovak Radio and Czechoslovak Television.

Apart from teaching and artistic work, no less important is his activity as an organiser of musical life in Slovakia: he was, for example, co-founder and long-term secretary of the Concert Artists Section in the Union of Slovak Composers, member of the Union of Slovak Composers and of the committee of the Slovak Union for Authors’ Rights, member of the Slovak Musical Council, and long-term president of the festival committee of the Bratislava Music Festival.
