During his studies in Vienna, Albín Vrteľ founded a string trio that performed abroad and also recorded for Radio Bratislava. He has also performed as a soloist. Due to health problems he had to end his concert activities.

Teaching work is the main part of Vrteľs activities and he has earned numerous credits for Slovak music development. He has raised more than 100 violinists who are valuable as chamber players (Moyzes Quartet), orchestral players, pedagogues or soloists (Andrea Illéšová, Ivana Pristašová in Vienna; abroad are or were active: Konštantín Sedlák, Germany, Ladislav Kupkovič – violinist, composer and conductor in Hannover, Ján Wicha in Canada, Jozef Fröhlich – soloist and concert master of English Chamber Orchestra, Viera Bíliková-Bolzzato – artistic director or chamber orchestra, viole d’amour player and pedagogue at Conservatory in Venice, Milan Bauer in Lyon, France, Jela Špitková in Salzburg and Vienna, Tibor Kováč – concert master of 2nd violin section in Vienna Philharmonic and first Slovak violinist who performed in Carnegie Hall, New York).

He became a renowned expert in the European context. He was invited as a member of juries of international competitions, and as a lecturer he gave lessons in Amsterdam, Croningen (1971), Glasgow (1971), Helsinki (1980), Venice, and in Colmirano (1992) he led a master class of violin perfection. For violin pedagogues he has also lectured in Slovakia. In 1991 led an interpretation seminar in Žilina.
