Kupkovič wrote several works for the cello including three sonatas for cello and piano (D major – 1980, B flat major – 1984, B flat major – 1999), Rrrondo and Dances from Panonia. The Suite in D Major for two cellos dates to 1988. Its cyclic structure is based on the baroque dance suite (Allemanda, Menuett, Allegro, Sarabanda, Giga), and its type of invention and the consequent development are most reminiscent of the music of Telemann and his boundless musical imagination which grew out of the very souls of the instruments themselves.
