Peter Javorka, Slovak music composer and performer, is the author of chamber, orchestral and vocal compositions. He graduated from the Žilina Conservatory in piano playing, while concurrently attending lessons in composition led by Pavol Krška. From 2011 he studied composition and conducting at VŠMU in Bratislava. He extended his education on international study stays (Krakow, Vienna and Porto) and at international courses and festivals (Trstěnice, Ostrava), and he consulted his compositions with composers including Kaija Saariaho, Christian Wolff, Carola Bauckholt and Jeff Beer. His studies culminated with a stay at Universität für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Vienna (2017–2018) and doctoral study at Music and Dance Faculty at VŠMU (2016–2019).
In 2025 he was awarded the Ján Levoslav Bella Prize for his work sans Marteau et sans Maître for large ensemble. Javorka’s compositions have been heard at festivals in Slovakia and abroad (Vienna, Budapest, Krakow, Prague), rendered by Slovak and foreign soloists and formations. In 2014 he found the young composers’ festival AsynChrónie, where as founder, artistic director and conductor of Ansámbel Asynchrónie he has performed more than a hundred works by young composers. To this day, as artistic director of the festival, he has organised ten annual events. As pianist or conductor he has presented many premieres of work by composers at home and abroad. He is an active solo and chamber piano performer.
