Founded the Club of Friends of the SND Opera (registered association), Bratislava
PhDr. Allia Krista Varkondová was a Slovak musicologist and archivist. She specialized mainly in opera and worked as the Head of the Music and Operations Department and the Music Archive of the Opera and Ballet of the Slovak National Theatre in Bratislava.
In 1990, she founded the Club of Friends of the SND Opera, which focused on promoting opera and conducting factual musicological research. Thanks to her efforts, the club became a member of the international association of opera clubs, FEDORA.
She published scholarly articles and interviews in journals such as Hudobný život (Musical Life), Slovenské divadlo (Slovak Theatre), Literárny týždenník (Literary Weekly), Javisko (Stage), Život (Life), and others. In 2020, she published the book Spoza roztrhnutej opony – nielen opernej (From Behind the Torn Curtain – Not Only Opera), about the 30-year history of the Club of Friends of the SND Opera. After twenty years, she stepped down from the leadership of the club and remained its honorary president until the end of her life.
