Pavol Krška was a Slovak composer, conductor, and educator. He devoted the greater part of his extensive compositional work to creating large-scale sacred vocal-instrumental pieces, characterized by the depth of their spiritual message and the sensitive connection between music and liturgical text. He influenced several generations of now-established artists. Throughout his artistic career, he received numerous recognitions and awards, and his works continue to be performed both on concert stages and in sacred spaces.
"Krška, in his musical output, follows the compositional principles of Prof. Moyzes. He seeks in musical form an image close to Moyzes’s postulates when revealing the beauty of Slovak folk song, as well as in the pursuit of unique instrumental color and timbre. His long-standing contact with the State Chamber Orchestra and with students of the Conservatory in Žilina also influenced his choice of compositional genres. His works subtly but clearly reflect pedagogical aspects, particularly in the choice of genres and instrumentation. The core of his compositional activity lies in the chamber music genre, which he later expanded to include vocal-instrumental works inspired by biblical imagery and texts. His works are marked by a meditative and contemplative character, along with contrasting sections full of dramatic intensity."
