The orchestra was founded in 1993 by teacher Jozef Kudri as the Chamber Orchestra of the Elementary School of Arts of Mikuláš Schneider-Trnavský. Later, in 1999, it became the chamber orchestra of the city of Trnava and adopted the name Trnava Chamber Orchestra. Through its rich artistic activities and cooperation with numerous Slovak and international artists and ensembles, it has grown into an orchestra of supra-regional significance. The orchestra regularly participates in various festivals, projects, and competitive showcases of amateur chamber ensembles both in Slovakia and abroad. In 1999 and 2001, it toured Japan and China together with members of the Marchfeld Philharmonic from Gänserndorf. TKO has also performed in Czech Republic, Austria, and Italy. Among its activities was a series of educational concerts for elementary and secondary school pupils and students entitled Popular Music Through the Ages. The orchestra also regularly premieres works by Slovak composers, including through the composition competition Arco Composition Competition, which it organizes as part of the Hudba na radnici festival.
