Ľuboš Bernáth

Slovak composer. He began his study of music at the Elementary Art School in Nové Zámky, where he studied playing the piano, accordion and violin. He continued at the department of composition in Bratislava Conservatory (Stanislav Hochel) and later at the Academy of Performing Arts (Evgeny Irshai). From 1999 to 2010 he was actively engaged at the Gabriel Rovňák Elementary Art School, where he taught composition, music theory, history of music, aural analysis and keyboard instrument playing. From 2008 he has been engaged at Bratislava Conservatory as a teacher of composition and theoretical subjects. Currently he is also engaged in the Department of Music Theory at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava. Alongside his teaching work, he participates in festivals at home and abroad as composer and conductor (New Slovak Music, Melos Ethos, Orpheus etc.) In 2012 he was involved as artistic guarantor in the formation of Ensemble Spectrum, a new youth ensemble at the Academy of Performing Arts. Since 2013 he has held the position of vicepresident of the Society of Slovak Composers and has also been an active member of the Council of KBS for science, education and culture.
