Hudobnoteoretické dielo

The music of Eugen Suchoň forms one of the central pillars of modern Slovak musical culture. Alongside his work as a composer, Suchoň was for many decades an influential teacher whose pedagogical approach was closely connected with his own writings on music theory, developed to support his teaching.

This volume brings together four of Suchoň’s theoretical works: Concise Introduction to Music, Theory of Counterpoint, Theory of Harmony, and Chord Theory: From the Triad to the Twelve-Tone Chord. Concise Introduction to Music and Theory of Harmony were co-authored with Miroslav Filip. The edition of Chord Theory is supplemented by the composer’s piano cycle Kaleidoscope.
